The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has shut down the Amsterdam Pub at Laboma following an overnight intelligence‑led operation targeting suspected narcotic‑related activities at the facility.
According to officials, the raid formed part of NACOC’s intensified crackdown on entertainment venues believed to be facilitating the distribution and consumption of illicit substances. The operation, conducted under cover of darkness, resulted in the immediate closure of the pub and the seizure of evidence linked to narcotics use and trafficking.
NACOC stressed that the action was necessary to safeguard public health and protect communities from the growing threat of drug abuse. The Commission reiterated its commitment to dismantling criminal networks exploiting social spaces to promote narcotics, warning that similar establishments will face swift enforcement measures.
Investigations are ongoing to identify individuals connected to the illegal activities uncovered at the Amsterdam Pub. NACOC has assured the public that offenders will be prosecuted in accordance with Ghana’s narcotics laws.
The Commission further appealed to community members, entertainment operators, and youth leaders to collaborate in the fight against drug trafficking, emphasizing that the protection of Ghana’s social fabric requires collective vigilance.
