Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has urged Corporate Ghana to partner government in building the nation’s digital workforce through the flagship One Million Coders Programme (OMCP).
Addressing stakeholders, the Minister appealed to technology companies, telecom operators, financial institutions, and other private sector organisations to contribute by offering internships, mentorship, scholarships, equipment donations, and employment opportunities.
He stressed that businesses stand to benefit directly from the digitally skilled workforce being developed under the initiative, noting that “achieving the programme’s objective of training one million Ghanaians requires sustained collaboration among government, academia and industry.”
Mr. George acknowledged the contributions of Google, MTN, Telecel, Huawei and partner agencies towards the implementation of the programme, adding that their support demonstrates the critical role of industry in advancing Ghana’s digital transformation agenda.
The OMCP, launched to equip one million youth with coding and digital skills, is positioned as a cornerstone of government’s strategy to prepare the workforce for opportunities in the global technology economy.
