Majority leader, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu has called on members of parliament to end malicious relationship between the leadership of parliament.
According to the member of parliament for Suame , the house should do away with mistrust they have for each other.
In his closing remarks at the end of the first meeting of the second session , admonished MPs against making baseless allegations against their colleagues.
He added that this is poses a threat to the parliamentary democracy.The speech was read on his behalf by the Deputy majority leader Alexander Afenyo -Marking. He said that reconciliation among members will the sanctity of the house. It will also help leadership in their quest to constantly engage in spirit of consensus building.
“Mr Speaker, indeed Parliament remains the beacon of hope to champion our democracy. In this regard, may I call on colleagues and leadership to peck themselves of mistrust for each other. Trust and confidence are bedrocks for consensus building”, he said .
However , he praised the legislators for doing away with violence in times of disagreement on the floor of the House.
“We are leaving this Chamber back to our various constituencies and homes, knowing that even when we disagree, we can express same without being physical. Today, as a House, we agree that we must use the tools available within the imperatives of the Constitution to resolve such disagreements”, he added
