Businessman Ibrahim Mahama has dismissed claims that he is seeking to acquire the Volta Aluminium Company (VALCO), describing the allegations as false and malicious.
His attention was drawn to a demonstration by the Labour Union of VALCO, during which some participants alleged that he was interested in taking over the company. In a statement issued by his Special Aide, Rafik Mahama, the businessman categorically denied any such interest or offer.
“The allegation is the latest in several vile attempts to impute the integrity of Mr. Ibrahim Mahama and subject him to needless public engagements,” the statement read.
Mr. Mahama emphasized that his track record speaks for itself, noting that all his business interests were legally commenced or acquired and operate within the ambit of applicable laws. He pointed out that his companies have survived across seven election cycles, a testament to their resilience and sound management.
He reaffirmed his commitment to contributing to Ghana’s development by investing in viable business opportunities locally and internationally. To protect his reputation, Mr. Mahama has instructed his lawyers to take the necessary legal action against the false publication.
