Ghana Prepared Despite Absence of Ebola Cases – Health Minister

Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has assured Ghanaians that there are currently no reported cases of Ebola in the country, emphasizing that the health system remains on high alert and prepared to respond to any potential outbreak.

The Minister gave the assurance amid public concerns over Ebola outbreaks reported in parts of Africa, stressing that Ghana’s surveillance and response mechanisms have been strengthened to safeguard public health.

According to Mr. Akandoh, health authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and have put in place the necessary measures to detect and contain any suspected cases should they arise.

“There is no Ebola in Ghana,” the Minister stated, while assuring the public that the country possesses the capacity and preparedness needed to manage any potential outbreak effectively.

He noted that the Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the Ghana Health Service and other stakeholders, has enhanced disease surveillance at health facilities and points of entry across the country.

The Minister urged the public to remain calm and continue observing public health guidelines, while encouraging citizens to report any unusual symptoms or suspected cases to health authorities promptly.

Mr. Akandoh reiterated the government’s commitment to protecting the health and safety of Ghanaians, adding that lessons from previous public health emergencies have strengthened the country’s readiness to respond to infectious disease threats.

Health experts say sustained vigilance, public awareness and rapid response measures remain critical in preventing the spread of highly infectious diseases such as Ebola.

The Ministry of Health has assured the public that it will continue to provide timely updates on the situation and implement all necessary interventions to safeguard the population.
