Four police officers, one civilian arrested in bullion van probe

Four more police officers and one citizen have been arrested in connection with the robbery of bullion vans that shocked Ghana last year.

According to the police, the five were apprehended after further investigations.

Constables Affisu Yaro Ibrahim, Richard Boadu, Rabiu Jambedu, Albert Ofosu, and suspect Razak Alhassan, a civilian, are the suspects.

Interrogation warrants have been issued for the cops involved, and all five will be arraigned today March 9.

Meanwhile, two police officers who had been detained early in the investigation have died.

An exchange of firearms occurred during a raid at Borteyman in Ashaiman to catch more criminals, and two police officers, Constable Reindolph Gyimah Ansah and Corporal Stephen Kwaku Nyame, were shot and pronounced dead at the Police Hospital where they were rushed.

Other suspects who were reported to have been shot managed to flee the scene.

As a result, the Police are banking on all public and private health facilities in the Accra-Tema area to report any victims with gunshot wounds to the police.

The service promised Ghanaians “of our determination to continue to take the fight to criminals to ensure the safety and security of all persons.

“We urge anyone with relevant information to contact the nearest police station,” the Police said.
