A delegation from the Agence Française de Développement (AFD), led by the French Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Diarra Dimé‑Labille, has paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Transport, Hon. Joseph Bukari Nikpe, to discuss potential areas of partnership and financing for Ghana’s transport infrastructure, with particular emphasis on railway development.
The delegation sought to gain insight into the Ministry’s priority projects and identify opportunities where French financing, technical expertise, and private‑sector collaboration could be mobilised. They expressed France’s readiness, through the AFD and other relevant institutions, to support initiatives aligned with Ghana’s national transport priorities.
Hon. Bukari Nikpe welcomed the delegation and reaffirmed the Ministry’s openness to partnerships that can help expand and modernise Ghana’s transport infrastructure. He underscored the importance of developing efficient rail systems to move passengers and cargo, ease congestion on roads and ports, and stimulate economic growth.
He further noted that the Ministry would provide the AFD delegation with its priority areas for continued engagement, signalling Ghana’s commitment to deepening cooperation with France in advancing sustainable transport solutions.
