President John Dramani Mahama has lauded the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) for its remarkable financial performance, describing the institution’s turnaround as a testament to the value of transparency and accountability in Ghana’s mineral economy.
Speaking at the 2026 Governing Boards & CEOs’ Conference organised by the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA), the President highlighted GoldBod’s net profit of approximately GH¢896.5 million, a sharp rise from GH¢178.5 million recorded in 2024.
“This performance reflects the strategic importance of building transparent, accountable, and nationally beneficial structures around Ghana’s gold trade,” President Mahama stated.
He described the results as encouraging, while cautioning that sustained performance remains the ultimate test of institutional strength.
GoldBod’s financial gains have been attributed to reforms in gold aggregation, compliance enforcement, and responsible trading practices, positioning the institution as a key driver of foreign exchange generation and economic stability.
