Global health organisations Path and InSupply Health have engaged Ghana’s Ministry of Health to introduce the proposed INSPIRE project, aimed at strengthening the country’s supply chain for maternal and newborn health commodities.
During the consultation, the partners sought the Ministry’s input on existing supply‑chain gaps and priorities to guide project design. Officials identified challenges in data management, forecasting, procurement, transportation, and sustainable financing, and requested targeted support to address these areas.
Deputy Minister for Health, Prof. Dr Grace Ayensu‑Danquah, welcomed the initiative and urged the organisations to align their interventions with Ghana’s priority needs. She emphasised the importance of improving the availability of essential maternal and newborn health commodities and equipment at the primary healthcare level to help reduce maternal deaths.
The engagement underscored the Ministry’s commitment to collaborative approaches in strengthening health systems, while providing a platform for knowledge exchange and alignment of international support with national priorities.
