Government has announced that the ongoing Accra–Kumasi Expressway project will generate an estimated 30,000 direct and indirect jobs, underscoring its commitment to using infrastructure investment as a driver of economic growth.
The Ministry of Finance disclosed that the project is designed not only to improve road connectivity between Ghana’s two largest cities but also to expand employment opportunities for citizens across multiple sectors. Jobs are expected to span construction, engineering, transport services, quarry operations, and ancillary businesses that support the delivery of the highway.
Officials emphasized that the expressway forms part of a broader national agenda to modernize road infrastructure, reduce travel time, and enhance trade flows. “Better connections should mean better livelihoods for our people,” the Ministry noted, stressing that the project will stimulate commerce and improve access to markets.
The Accra–Kumasi corridor is one of Ghana’s busiest transport routes, linking major economic centres and serving as a vital artery for goods and passenger traffic. Upon completion, the expressway is expected to ease congestion, improve safety, and strengthen regional integration.
