A delegation from Namibia’s Ministry of Industries, Mines and Energy has paid a working visit to the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) as part of a benchmarking and consultation mission aimed at strengthening Namibia’s mining sector.
The team was received by GoldBod’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Richard Nunekpeku, Esq., who led discussions on the institution’s mandate and operational framework. The engagement covered licensing and regulation, gold purchasing and sales, responsible mining and sustainability, financial management, foreign exchange generation, and compliance and enforcement.
The Namibian officials described GoldBod’s model as a robust framework from which valuable lessons could be drawn, noting its potential to guide Namibia’s efforts toward greater standardisation and efficiency in mineral resource management.
The visit also provided a platform for knowledge exchange and reinforced institutional cooperation between Ghana and Namibia, underscoring the role of cross‑border collaboration in promoting responsible mining and sustainable development across Africa.
