Ghana midfielder Kwasi Sibo has officially joined Libyan Premier League champions Al-Swehly on a three-year deal, with an option for a further year. The 28-year-old arrived as a free agent after leaving Spanish side Real Oviedo at the end of the 2025/26 season.
$10m package after Turkey deal collapses
The transfer follows a dramatic saga in which a proposed move to Turkish Super Lig club Gençlerbirliği fell through at the last minute. Al-Swehly then presented a lucrative offer reported to be worth around $10 million over three years, with some estimates putting the net value closer to $7.5 million after deductions. Sibo is also understood to receive an apartment in Libya as part of the contract.
From World Cup to CAF Champions League
Sibo arrives in North Africa after featuring in all four of Ghana’s matches at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, playing 249 minutes in the tournament. He will now focus on Al-Swehly’s CAF Champions League campaign, with the Libyan champions set to face Zanzibar’s KVZ in the preliminary round.

Al-Swehly announced the signing with a welcome video, confirming Sibo as a key addition to their squad as they aim to make an impact on the continental stage.
