A delegation from the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), led by Country Director Mr. Dong Wan Woo, has paid a courtesy call on Ghana’s Deputy Minister for Health, Prof. Dr. Grace Ayensu‑Danquah, to explore avenues of collaboration in reducing maternal mortality.
The engagement, held in Accra, focused on strengthening Ghana’s Maternal Mortality Action and Response Programme (MMARP). Discussions centered on strategies to improve maternal healthcare services, address preventable maternal deaths, and enhance health outcomes for mothers nationwide.
Prof. Dr. Ayensu‑Danquah welcomed KOICA’s interest in supporting Ghana’s health sector, noting that partnerships with international development agencies are vital to advancing sustainable interventions. She emphasized that reducing maternal mortality requires coordinated efforts across government, health institutions, and development partners.
KOICA officials reaffirmed their commitment to working with the Ministry of Health to identify practical interventions that can accelerate progress in maternal health delivery. The meeting underscored the importance of global cooperation in tackling maternal mortality, which remains a pressing public health challenge in Ghana.
