The government has directed Adamus Resources Limited and the Minerals Commission to present a twelve‑month turnaround plan for the company’s operations, following a high‑level meeting at the Presidency to resolve disputes between the two parties.
According to the official communication, the roadmap will be supervised by a six‑member management team with equal representation from Adamus and the government. The plan is expected to address outstanding liabilities owed to the Ghana Revenue Authority, the Minerals Income Investment Fund, financial institutions, and suppliers.
Key Elements of the Roadmap
- Joint management team: Six members, split evenly between Adamus and government.
- Debt settlement: Clearing arrears to state agencies, banks, and suppliers.
- Capital injection: Exploring new partners to stabilize operations.
- Presidency oversight: Roadmap to be submitted within two weeks.
The directive, signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, MP and Spokesperson to the President, emphasized that the agreement was reached to safeguard jobs, stabilize the mine, and ensure compliance with national regulations.
The reprieve comes amid heightened scrutiny of Ghana’s extractive sector, with government insisting on accountability and sustainability in mining operations.
