The Ghana Education Service (GES) has confirmed that two watchmen at Bolgatanga Girls Senior High School have been arrested following allegations of sexual assault against a student.
In a statement issued on Thursday, August 20, 2026, the Service described the incident as “disturbing” and said preliminary reports indicated the victim is a special needs student who had suffered a relapse and required medical attention at the time of the alleged assault.
GES noted that the two suspects were immediately handed over to the Police and have been interdicted pending investigations. Management assured that thorough inquiries are underway and pledged to apply appropriate sanctions in line with the GES Code of Conduct and the laws of Ghana.
The Service cautioned staff to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and emphasised that it will not tolerate any conduct that compromises student safety. “Management assures parents, guardians and the general public that the matter is being treated with the seriousness it deserves,” the statement added.
The release, signed by Head of Public Relations Daniel Fenyi, reiterated GES’s commitment to protecting the dignity and wellbeing of students across the country.
