The Government has urged the public to disregard a viral video circulating on social media, insisting that President John Dramani Mahama’s remarks have been deliberately twisted for partisan purposes.
Minister of State in Charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, issued the clarification in a Facebook post on Monday after the video gained traction online.
He condemned what he described as “misguided elements” seeking to distort the President’s words to achieve “narrow partisan ends.”
According to Mr. Kwakye Ofosu, the President’s comments in the video clearly referred to the release of GHS 150 million earmarked for post‑flood mitigation works. He explained that the discussion was held with the National Security Coordinator and had no other context.
“Disregard the mischievous lies!” the Minister stressed, underscoring government’s position that the viral clip was a deliberate misrepresentation.
The clarification comes amid heightened political debate over flood relief measures, with government reiterating its commitment to transparency and effective communication on the use of public funds.
