President John Dramani Mahama has issued a stirring message of support to Ghana’s national football team, the Black Stars, as they prepare for their opening match against Panama in Toronto at the FIFA World Cup.
In an official statement released by the Presidency Communications, the President, government, and people of Ghana pledged their full backing for the team in what marks the nation’s fifth appearance at the global tournament.
“You carry more than a ball. You are carrying the hopes, dreams, and heritage of a people,” the message declared, underscoring the unity and pride that the Black Stars inspire across the country and among the diaspora.
The statement also highlighted the government’s efforts to secure official broadcast rights, ensuring that citizens nationwide can follow every moment of the competition. President Mahama urged the players to “play for the flag” and for the children who dream of greatness in their footsteps, expressing confidence that the Black Stars will shine brightly on the world stage.
The message concluded with a rallying cry: “Go Black Stars!” — a call resonating across Ghana and beyond as the team embarks on its World Cup campaign.
