The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has called for stronger collaboration between Ghana and the United States to promote sustainable growth and development.
Speaking during a courtesy call by a delegation of members of the U.S. Congress, the Speaker expressed optimism that the visit would deepen relations between the two countries. He noted that Ghana continues to enjoy one of the strongest democratic freedoms globally and appealed for continued support to advance the nation’s development agenda.
The delegation, led by Congressman Vern Buchanan, said the visit aimed to engage with the Speaker, learn from his experiences, and exchange ideas on parliamentary leadership and governance. Buchanan reaffirmed the U.S. Congress’s commitment to exploring ways to strengthen the longstanding relationship between Ghana and the United States.
The Minority Leader, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, and the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Alfred Oko Vanderpuije, welcomed the delegation and commended the visit. They emphasized the importance of enhanced cooperation between Ghana and the United States, particularly in areas that create jobs, attract investment, and expand opportunities for the youth.
The meeting highlighted the shared commitment of both nations to democratic governance, economic partnership, and mutual progress.
