BoG Governor Champions Consultative Leadership at Ghana–UK Summit

Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Johnson Pandit Asiama, has highlighted a shift to consultative leadership as the defining hallmark of his tenure, stressing that the approach is delivering tangible results for the institution.

Addressing the Ghana–UK Investment Summit on June 1, 2026, Dr. Asiama explained that his leadership style was shaped by time spent outside the Bank, during which he engaged with public discourse and listened to criticism of the central bank.

“One of the key changes we introduced when I assumed office was a consultative approach to leadership. Our aim is to demystify the central bank,” he stated.

He emphasized that active stakeholder engagement has enabled more practical and timely solutions. As an example, he cited the Bank’s swift intervention to resolve payment challenges faced by social media influencers, underscoring the value of inclusive policymaking.

Dr. Asiama described the consultative model as essential to improving policy outcomes, noting that meaningful engagement strengthens decision-making and builds public trust in the central bank.
