The Bono East Regional Police Command has confirmed the arrest of three suspects in connection with the murder of the Queenmother of Abamba near Amantin in the Atebubu area.
The suspects — Rafiu Haruna, Muftawu Adamu, and Michael Owusu Spermi — were picked up during an intelligence-led operation. Police say the arrests mark a significant breakthrough in investigations into the killing of Nana Serwaa Asaamaa Kuma Gyan, who was shot at her residence in Atebubu on February 25, 2026.
According to the police, the three men are currently in custody assisting with investigations. Authorities have assured the public that efforts are ongoing to apprehend all individuals involved in the crime and bring them to justice.
The murder of the Queenmother shocked the Atebubu community, sparking widespread calls for swift action. Police have urged residents to remain calm and cooperate with investigators as the case progresses.
This development underscores the growing reliance on intelligence-led policing in tackling violent crime in the Bono East Region, with security agencies pledging to ensure accountability and justice for traditional leaders and their communities.
