Zongo Development Fund Pledges Support for 7-Year-Old Girl Burnt in Assault

The Zongo Development Fund (ZoDF) has pledged full support for the seven-year-old girl who was severely burnt by her guardian with a heated spoon at Mamobi.

The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, involved 24-year-old Ayisha Zakaria, who allegedly pressed a heated spoon against the child’s private parts and inner thighs as punishment for bedwetting.

Following the reported news of the little girl’s plight, a delegation from the Fund met with the family and community leaders at the Pigfarm Central Mosque on Friday, 31st October, 2025 to assess the victim’s condition and assure them of continued assistance. The girl, who has since been treated and discharged from the hospital, is expected to receive ongoing social and emotional support through the Fund’s intervention.

Speaking to Baina News, the delegation explained that the move aligns with the Fund’s core mandate to promote the welfare and protection of vulnerable individuals in Zongo communities.

Deputy CEO of the Fund, Hajia Rakia Abdulai, led the delegation, alongside Head of Corporate Affairs and PR, Ahmed Ayuba.

The victim’s parents expressed their heartfelt appreciation to the Zongo Development Fund for their compassion, visit and pledge of continued support.
