Police in the Central Region have arrested three students of Swedru School of Business in connection with the assault of an Obrachire Senior High School student, an incident that was captured in a viral video.
The arrests followed an engagement between the Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, and the management of Swedru School of Business earlier in the day. Later that evening, school authorities handed over the suspects to the Swedru Divisional Police Command.
The suspects have been identified as:
- Joseph Amoh, 20 years
- Benedict Appiah, 18 years
- Bilal Mamud, 18 years
Police confirmed that the suspects are in custody and will be put before court.
In a statement, the Central Regional Command strongly condemned the conduct of the students and urged the public, particularly young people, to refrain from acts of violence. Authorities emphasized that such behavior undermines discipline and safety within educational institutions.
The incident has sparked widespread concern, with calls for schools to intensify measures to curb violence among students and promote a culture of respect and accountability.
