A stakeholder consultation on the Public Financial Management (Amendment) Bill, 2026 has been held at the Alisa Hotel in Accra, drawing participants from government agencies, civil society organisations, financial experts, and development partners.
The session was led by the sponsor of the amendment, Hon. Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, Member of Parliament for Ofoase-Ayirebi, who outlined the purpose of the proposed reforms. He explained that the Bill is designed to strengthen fiscal discipline, improve transparency in the handling of public funds, and close gaps identified in the implementation of the current law.
The engagement provided a platform for stakeholders to exchange views on the draft legislation and its potential impact on Ghana’s public financial management framework. Officials noted that the discussions will inform the refinement of the Bill before it is presented for further parliamentary consideration.
