President John Dramani Mahama will on Saturday, ahead of the official opening of the Assembly of Heads of State of the African Union, host an Accra Reset side event in Addis Ababa.
Dubbed “Addis Reckoning”, the high-level gathering will bring together continental leaders, chief executives of private businesses, and representatives of multilateral organisations.
The discussions are expected to focus on a new framework for free movement and talent circulation in Africa, backed by a proposed “digital passport.” Other issues on the agenda include technological innovations to extract greater value from Africa’s mineral resources, reform of global health governance and institutions, and partnerships among African countries and Global South pacesetters to harness artificial intelligence.
President Mahama will be joined by other leaders in the Accra Reset Presidential Council, including key champions of the “sovereign prosperity spheres” concept.
The side event is anticipated to set the tone for broader deliberations at the AU Summit, highlighting Africa’s determination to chart innovative pathways for prosperity and global relevance.
