President Mahama Inaugurates Presidential Advisory Group on the Economy

President John Dramani Mahama has inaugurated a new Presidential Advisory Group on the Economy, a high-level body tasked with guiding Ghana’s macroeconomic policy, fiscal stability, and long-term economic transformation.

The Group, chaired by the President, brings together eminent figures from academia, public service, finance, and the private sector to provide evidence-based advice for economic decision-making.

Among the distinguished members are Vice President H.E. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang; economists and private sector leaders Ishmael Yamson, Kwame Pianim, and Togbe Afede XIV; former finance ministers Dr Kwabena Duffuor and Nana Oye Mansa Yeboaa; former Bank of Ghana Governor Dr Henry A. Kofi Wampah; industrialist Sir Samuel Esson Jonah; agribusiness investor Ato Brown; Ghana Stock Exchange CEO Abena Amoah; and professors Priscilla Twumasi Baffour and Patience Aseweh Abor.

The President emphasized that the constitution of the Advisory Group reflects his administration’s commitment to harnessing diverse expertise in steering Ghana’s economic recovery and ensuring long-term prosperity.

This initiative is expected to strengthen policy formulation, enhance fiscal discipline, and accelerate structural reforms aimed at positioning Ghana as a resilient and competitive economy in the global arena.
