Police Arrest Five Suspects, Retrieve Firearms in Accra Operation

The Accra Regional Police Command, working in collaboration with the National Police Intelligence Directorate (NPID), has arrested five suspects and retrieved a cache of firearms, ammunition and other offensive items during an intelligence‑led operation at Sapeiman Faase in the Accra Region.

The suspects — identified as Torgbui Agah Semaglo, 50; Shadrach Agah Semaglo, 22; William Kweku Sedanu, 21; Cyril Kassenu, 26; and Kingsford Agah Semaglo, 18 — were apprehended on 17th July 2026. They are currently in police custody assisting with investigations.

A search conducted at their premises led to the recovery of one pump‑action gun, a Stoeger ST‑R9 pistol, a dummy Austria pistol, a jackknife, a face mask, twelve BB cartridges, three rounds of 9mm ammunition, one AK‑47 round, a talisman, and two kitchen knives. All exhibits have been retained for evidential purposes.

Preliminary investigations suggest the suspects are members of a criminal group involved in armed robbery and landguard activities, allegedly using the recovered weapons to terrorize residents in Sapeiman and surrounding communities.

The Accra Regional Police Command commended members of the public for their cooperation and urged residents to remain vigilant, reporting suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station or through emergency numbers.

Chief Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region, reaffirmed the Police Service’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all residents across the region.
