President John Dramani Mahama has commissioned the Akatsi North District Police Headquarters, reaffirming Government’s determination to complete inherited projects and strengthen security infrastructure nationwide.
Addressing residents, traditional leaders and security personnel, the President stressed that a change in government should not result in the abandonment of vital public projects. He noted that the police headquarters, initiated in 2014, had stalled for several years before being brought to completion.
President Mahama underscored that completing ongoing projects is not only a matter of good governance but also ensures value for taxpayers’ money and prevents additional costs associated with prolonged delays. He assured residents that the Akatsi North Agenda 111 Hospital has been prioritised for completion as part of broader efforts to expand access to quality healthcare.
Commending the Ghana Police Service for its role in maintaining law and order, the President described security as one of Ghana’s greatest assets. He urged stronger collaboration between the police and local communities in tackling crime and drug abuse, while calling on officers to uphold professionalism, respect citizens’ rights, and exercise authority responsibly.
On infrastructure development, President Mahama highlighted ongoing investments under the Big Push Programme, expressing satisfaction with progress on major road projects, including the Aflao Road, where several sections are advancing ahead of schedule. He further announced that the Nkope Junction–Kove Road has been included in a new rural roads programme aimed at improving connectivity and supporting economic activity in communities across the country.
Concluding his remarks, President Mahama urged officers stationed at the new headquarters to maintain the facility and ensure it continues to serve the people of Akatsi North for generations to come.
