Parliament’s October 14 Reconvening Deferred Until Further Notice

The Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, has announced the deferment of the commencement of the Third Meeting of the First Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana.

In an official notice dated October 6, 2025, and issued from the Office of the Speaker at Parliament House, Accra, the Speaker stated that the decision to postpone the meeting was due to “circumstances beyond my control.”

The notice referenced an earlier summons to Parliament dated September 29, 2025, which had called for the convening of the Third Meeting. However, the new communication effectively places the meeting on hold until further notice.

“I, Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, Speaker of Parliament, hereby give notice that the commencement of the Third Meeting of the First Session of the Ninth Parliament of the Fourth Republic is deferred until further notice due to circumstances beyond my control,” the statement read.

The notice did not specify the reasons behind the deferment or indicate when Parliament would reconvene. It was signed personally by the Speaker.

The postponement comes at a time when key national issues, including pending legislative business and budgetary discussions, are expected to be tabled before Parliament in the coming weeks.
