The Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana (PAOG) has announced the immediate closure of payments for the 2027 Hajj pilgrimage, citing the need to prevent oversubscription and ensure a smooth, coordinated process.
In a statement issued from the Hajj Village at Kotoka International Airport, PAOG explained that the decision was taken to align confirmed pilgrim numbers with Ghana’s approved quota for the pilgrimage. The Office noted that oversubscription in previous years had led to administrative backlogs and operational challenges, making the proactive measure necessary.
“Managing pilgrim numbers within approved limits remains critical to delivering a safe, efficient and successful Hajj,” the release stated, assuring that all pilgrims who have completed payment will be successfully airlifted to Saudi Arabia.
The Office advised intending pilgrims who missed the payment deadline to prepare for future Hajj arrangements and cautioned the public against fraudulent individuals claiming to offer participation opportunities.
Director of Communications, Mohammed Amin Lamptey, emphasized that the closure was in the best interest of prospective pilgrims and the nation, reinforcing PAOG’s commitment to orderly and transparent Hajj operations.
