The Minister for the Interior, Hon. Muntaka Mubarak, yesterday welcomed the newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, H.E. Cong Song, during a courtesy call at his office in Accra.
The visit reaffirmed the enduring commitment of the People’s Republic of China to deepening bilateral relations and strengthening strategic cooperation with Ghana.
In their discussions, Ambassador Cong Song highlighted the critical role of the Ministry of the Interior in safeguarding peace, stability, and public order. He pledged the Embassy’s readiness to enhance diplomatic engagement and expand economic collaboration between the two nations.
On law enforcement and regulatory compliance, the Ambassador stressed the importance of Chinese nationals in Ghana respecting local laws. He reiterated China’s firm support for Ghana’s efforts to combat illegal mining, underscoring that responsible business practices are essential for sustainable development and mutually beneficial partnerships.
Minister Mubarak commended the longstanding relationship between the Ministry, the Chinese Embassy, and the Chinese community in Ghana. He emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation in areas such as capacity building, technological advancement, intelligence sharing, and knowledge transfer to boost the operational effectiveness of Ghana’s security services.
He further assured the Ambassador of the Ministry’s full commitment to deepening collaboration in addressing shared security and development challenges, noting that Ghana is ready to work closely with China in advancing common interests.
