The National Association of Institutional Suppliers (NAIS) has announced plans to stage a picketing exercise at the Ministry of Education on Thursday, 11 June 2026, to demand payment of outstanding debts owed to its members.
In a statement dated 3 June 2026, the Association disclosed that since 2023, suppliers of uniforms, house dresses, and school clothes to public Senior High Schools under the Free SHS programme have not received payments amounting to approximately GH¢50 million.
NAIS explained that the prolonged delay has imposed severe financial hardship on its members, many of whom rely on timely payments to sustain their businesses. The Association said the picketing is intended to draw government attention to the plight of suppliers and to press for the immediate release of funds.
The statement, signed by President Emmanuel Ayivor and Assistant Secretary Ruth Kodua, further appealed to the media for coverage and cooperation to amplify their concerns.
The Association emphasized that the action is not only about recovering debts but also about safeguarding the sustainability of the Free SHS programme, which depends on the continued supply of essential school clothing.
