The Government of Ghana, through the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, has appointed entrepreneur and cultural advocate Hamamat Montia as Cultural Ambassador for Ghana’s Shea Butter, underscoring culture as a strategic pillar of national development.

At the recognition ceremony, the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, described Shea Butter as a symbol of indigenous knowledge, women’s empowerment, and sustainable livelihoods. She called for greater investment in culture-driven industries to unlock their potential for economic growth and social transformation.
In her acceptance remarks, Ms. Montia highlighted the global economic promise of the Shea Butter industry. She stressed the importance of moving beyond raw material exports to producing premium Ghanaian products for international markets, positioning Ghana as a leader in natural skincare innovation.
The appointment is expected to strengthen Ghana’s cultural diplomacy, expand women-led enterprises, and elevate the country’s profile as a global hub for Shea Butter and indigenous natural products.
