Ghana Congratulates Guinea on Peaceful Democratic Transition

Ghana has extended warm congratulations to President Mamady Doumbouya and the people of Guinea following the country’s peaceful democratic transition.

In a message of goodwill, Ghana reaffirmed its readiness to deepen bilateral ties with Guinea, building on the historic bond of brotherhood between President Ahmed Sekou Touré and Ghana’s founder, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. Notably, after his overthrow on 24 February 1966, Nkrumah was named Co-President of Guinea, a gesture that cemented the solidarity between the two nations.

Officials described Guinea’s transition as a watershed moment in the country’s democratic journey, underscoring the importance of stability and cooperation in the West African sub-region.

Ghana expressed optimism that the new chapter in Guinea’s political history will open avenues for closer collaboration in trade, culture, and regional integration.

“Ghana wishes Guinea the very best on this watershed democratic journey,” the statement concluded.
