The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a travel advisory to members of the Tijjaniya Muslim Movement of Ghana ahead of their planned trip to Senegal to commemorate the birthday of Prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him).
The advisory, released Friday, urged prospective travellers to exercise heightened caution in making their arrangements, citing security concerns along certain road corridors leading to Dakar. While Senegal remains generally safe for visitors, the Ministry cautioned that long‑distance journeys by road may pose risks.
In view of these concerns, the Ministry strongly recommended air travel as the most secure and reliable means of transportation. Travellers already planning road journeys were advised to reconsider and opt for air travel instead.
The statement emphasized the importance of prioritising personal safety and security, while reaffirming the Ministry’s commitment to the welfare and protection of Ghanaian nationals abroad. Officials noted that the situation will continue to be closely monitored in collaboration with international partners.
