Firefighters Contain Hostel Blaze at Ashaley Botwe

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has brought under control a major fire that broke out at a hostel in Ashaley Botwe, near the International God’s Way Church, in the early hours of Thursday, 9th April 2026.

The blaze, which engulfed a two-storey, 30-room apartment building, was first reported at 05:45 hours. Firefighters from the Adentan Fire Station, led by ADO I Ackon, were dispatched within a minute and arrived at the scene at 05:56 hours to find the structure well alight.

Reinforcements from Madina and Legon Fire Stations joined the operation, and by 07:46 hours the fire was successfully contained. No casualties were recorded.

Ten bedrooms and their contents were completely destroyed, while twenty others were salvaged. Fire crews also managed to protect three adjoining one-storey apartment structures from the flames.
