The Ministry of Education has released a statement outlining the approved fees and charges for students of the University of Ghana for the 2025/2026 academic year.
Signed by Hon. Clement Abas Apaak, Deputy Minister for Education and Member of Parliament for Builsa South, the statement emphasized that the listed fees apply exclusively to the University of Ghana and are not to be adopted by other public tertiary institutions.
Following a meeting held on 8th January 2026 involving the Ministry, the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC), and representatives of the University of Ghana, the approved fees include:
- Academic Facility User Fee: maintained at the 2024/2025 rate
- SRC Dues: GH¢50
- SRC Development Levy: GH¢150
- GRASAG Development Levy: GH¢250
- Telecel Broadband Levy: GH¢122 (optional for all undergraduate students)
- 75th Anniversary Levy: GH¢100 (one-time charge for this academic year only)
The Ministry also announced the formation of a Fee Review Committee, chaired by Hon. Apaak, to assess future fee adjustment proposals from public tertiary institutions before submission to Parliament.
The statement urged transparency and student awareness, particularly regarding optional charges like the broadband levy, and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to fair and consultative fee-setting processes.
