Defence and Interior Committee Hosts U.S. Air War College Delegation

The Parliamentary Committee on Defence and Interior has engaged a visiting delegation from the United States Air War College as part of the College’s international study program, holding discussions on key national security issues in Ghana and the wider African region.

Chairman of the Committee, Hon. James Agalga, outlined the Committee’s mandate and oversight responsibilities, emphasizing Parliament’s role in safeguarding national security through legislative and policy frameworks.

For his part, the Ranking Member, Hon. John Ntim Fordjour, highlighted the Committee’s collaboration with the Ministry of Defence and Parliament in addressing emerging threats. He cited terrorism and youth unemployment as pressing challenges requiring coordinated responses at both national and regional levels.

As part of the visit, the delegation was invited to observe live proceedings in the Chamber of Parliament, offering them firsthand insight into Ghana’s democratic processes and parliamentary oversight functions.

The engagement underscored Ghana’s commitment to international cooperation in tackling security challenges and provided an opportunity for knowledge exchange between the Committee and the U.S. Air War College delegation.
