Buipewura Jinapor II Calls for Chiefs’ Role in National Development

The Paramount Chief of the Buipe Traditional Area, Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor II, has paid a courtesy call on the Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Johnson Pandit Asiama, at the Bank Square.

Welcoming the traditional leader and his delegation, Dr. Asiama expressed optimism that cordial relations between traditional rulers and policymakers contribute to stronger economic outcomes. He noted that collaboration between institutions and traditional authorities is vital for inclusive national development.

Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor II congratulated the Governor and his deputies on their appointments and commended their stewardship of the country’s economic affairs. “You have proved those who thought otherwise wrong. So far, so good! God and the ancestors will guide and guard you in your work. You have brought real independence to us because you cannot say you are free when someone is feeding you,” he remarked.

The Paramount Chief further outlined key developmental initiatives in his traditional area, including:

  • Establishing a Farmers Brigade to mobilise youth into farming and support existing farmers
  • Mobilising chiefs to support government development efforts
  • Enhancing the commercialisation of agricultural activities
  • Promoting women-led initiatives to tackle poverty

Governor Asiama welcomed the initiatives, highlighting the importance of food availability in stabilising the economy. “The past year we enjoyed success with inflation because food was abundant, keeping food inflation low. Food availability is critical for economic stability,” he said.

He expressed confidence that Buipewura’s efforts would improve living standards and contribute meaningfully to Ghana’s economic resilience.
