Ghana’s Black Stars have recorded a notable leap in the latest FIFA/Coca‑Cola Men’s World Ranking, climbing eight places after their participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The national team now sits at 65th globally, up from 73rd in the previous list released before the tournament.
According to FIFA, the new ranking published on July 20 reflects the impact of Ghana’s campaign on the world stage. The improved standing also places the Black Stars among Africa’s higher‑ranked sides, offering a morale boost following their return to the World Cup.
This progress comes despite Ghana’s exit at the Round of 32, where they suffered a narrow 1‑0 defeat to Colombia.
Nonetheless, the Black Stars’ reappearance at the World Cup was a significant milestone, especially after missing the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
