The Africa Institute for Small Scale Mining (AISSM) has appointed Mr. Abdul Salam Yussif as its Country Director for Ghana from 2022 to 2025.
AISSM says Mr. Yussif is expected to lead its operations in Ghana, manage AISSM’s relationship with the government and development partners, and oversee the implementation of AISSM’s 2022–2025 country partnership strategy. The strategy aims to help Ghana emerge stronger from a dispensation of wide spread cases of illicit mining to a responsible mining regime in the small scale mining sector.
Mr. Yussif comes with vast experience in the oil & gas downstream sector, Precious metal brokerage and commodity trading.
He is currently the CEO and founder of Yastechnology Limited. A company duly registered with RGDs in 2013. His company focuses in consultancy services in commodity trading, oil & gas, construction and precious metal brokerage services.
He has been invited to various conferences in the oil & gas and precious metals industry in Ghana and abroad. He is the managing partner for EnergyDirect Limited, an oil distribution company in Ghana.
Prior to his appointment, Mr. Yussif was appointed the executive secretary of Aku Group in Dubai last year. He holds numerous leadership positions in Ghana and abroad.

According to AISSM, its aims are to integrate logical disciplines along the value chain from exploration to mining and mineral processing. They operate in the areas of training, research, advocacy and consultancy.
The institute offers artisanal and Small-Scale Miners an outcome-based theoretical and practical training. The training offered will provide the miners with sufficient knowledge to operate their Minerals based SMMEs safely, efficiently and environmentally friendly.
