Embattled illegal mining kingpin, Aisha Huang has been accused of being a Chinese spy
These allegations were made by Professor Kwesi Aning, the Director of Academic Affairs and Research at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre.
Aisha Huang who was deported to China in 2018 was accused of engaging in small-scale mining, however, the state could not prosecute her due to diplomatic relations between Ghana and China. The former Senior Minister Yaw Osafo Maafo justifying the reason Aisha Huang was not jailed said
“putting that woman in jail in Ghana is not going to solve your money problem”.
In an interview with Joy Fm, Professor Aning stated that if Aisha could be released based on the justification of Ghana securing the loan for the Sino-Hydro project then she is not an ordinary Chinese gangster, “She is an agent of the state, she is a spy” he said. Adding to what her intentions might be, Professor Aning said Aisha Huang is using illegal mining activities to destroy the water bodies which will affect the country’s cocoa production.
