He expressed dismay at the police’s handling, including reported denials of legal counsel, medical care, food, and water.

“Let it not be said that our generation stood by unconcerned as the dark clouds of chaos and anarchy began to gather in our beloved country,” he cautioned.

Alan Kyerematen, the Afrafranto Alliance presidential candidate, delivered a powerful address that not only defended the detained youth protesters but also condemned the broader political climate in Ghana.

He criticized both the NPP and NDC parties for their inaction against illegal mining, known as Galamsey, which has devastated the environment and exacerbated public discontent.

Kyerematen viewed the protests as a symptom of deeper systemic failures, particularly the government’s inability to provide jobs and a sense of hope for the future.

He emphasized that the youth are not just fighting against environmental degradation but also against a system that has failed to provide them with opportunities.

By speaking out against the government’s handling of the protests and the underlying issues that led to them, Kyerematen positioned himself as a champion of the youth and a leader who is willing to tackle the tough challenges facing Ghana.

His address was a call to action, urging the government to address the systemic failures that have led to widespread discontent among the youth.
