The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) has announced an ongoing water supply interruption affecting the eastern part of the Greater Accra Region. The disruption began on Sunday, August 25, 2024, and has impacted several areas, including Dodowa, Oyibi, Frafraha, Adenta, Madina, Ashongman, Haatso, La, Osu, Kanda, Airport Residential Area, and Legon.
The interruption was caused by a burst on the transmission line from the Kpong Treatment Plant to the Dodowa Booster Station. Although repair work was initially completed, further issues were identified, necessitating another shutdown. GWCL engineers are working diligently to replace the affected section of the transmission line, aiming to restore water supply by the end of Wednesday, August 28, 2024.
In the interim, GWCL has deployed water tankers to essential service providers, including hospitals and schools, to mitigate the impact. The company urges residents to conserve water during this period and assures the public that every effort is being made to resolve the issue promptly. For assistance, residents can contact GWCL through toll-free and WhatsApp lines.
