Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has praised staff of the country’s embassy in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for their dedication and professionalism in supporting the national women’s football team, the Black Queens.

In a Facebook post, Ablakwa lauded the embassy team for their “remarkable patriotism, courage, compassion and professionalism” as they continue to look out for the 25 players and 16 officials currently visiting the UAE. He noted that the staff have been extending consular support and ensuring the collective safety of the delegation.

The Minister emphasized government’s commitment to safeguarding its citizens abroad, declaring: “No Ghanaian would be abandoned in harm’s way.”

The Black Queens’ visit has drawn attention not only to their sporting mission but also to the broader role of Ghana’s diplomatic missions in providing protection and assistance to nationals overseas.
