A third-year student of Islamic Senior High School in Kumasi, identified as Abass, lost his life after falling from the top floor of the school’s administration building on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.
His remains have since been laid to rest in line with Islamic burial rites.
Reports from within the school indicate that Abass had been battling suicidal thoughts for some time, though the school authorities were not aware of any such struggles.
Abass, who was a Business student and serving as the acting Boys’ Prefect, is said to have fallen during school hours, prompting students and staff to rush to the scene.
He was quickly taken to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital but was declared dead upon arrival.
Relatives, including his mother and uncle, together with some students, revealed that Abass had previously made comments about harming himself, but these were brushed off as jokes and not taken seriously.
