A structure belonging to the Architectural Engineering Group at Roman Ridge in Accra has reportedly caved in, with several individuals feared to be trapped under the wreckage.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) confirmed the occurrence in a statement shared on Facebook.
Nonetheless, the GNFS has assured the public that a specialized rescue team from its headquarters is currently at the site, working relentlessly to free those affected.
So far, at least 14 construction workers have been pulled out in critical condition following the collapse earlier today.
According to the GNFS, many of the victims sustained serious injuries and have been rushed to the 37 Military Hospital and Ridge Hospital for emergency medical care.
Personnel from the GNFS Headquarters, assisted by the National Ambulance Service and the Police, have been stationed at the scene since the incident unfolded.
Rescue efforts are still underway amid concerns that additional people may remain trapped beneath the debris.
