Parliament to Vet Justice Baffoe-Bonnie for Chief Justice Role on November 10

The Appointments Committee of Parliament is scheduled to evaluate Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie on Monday, November 10, 2025, for his proposed elevation to the role of Chief Justice of Ghana.

According to an official communication from Parliament, the vetting session will commence at 11:00 a.m. and will take place in Committee Rooms 1, 2, and 3 within the New Administration Block.

Justice Baffoe-Bonnie was put forward by President John Dramani Mahama, with the nomination pending endorsement by Parliament in accordance with constitutional provisions.

The screening process will examine the candidate’s credentials, professional background, and overall fitness for the role before the committee submits its findings to the full House for deliberation.

His nomination comes in the wake of the suspension of the previous Chief Justice, Her Ladyship Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo.
