Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former Vice President and the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer for the 2024 presidential race, has appealed to party members to wholeheartedly commit to unity if they hope to triumph in the 2028 national elections.
Speaking to enthusiastic supporters after submitting his nomination documents at the NPP’s headquarters in Accra, Dr. Bawumia emphasized that the shared ambition among party faithful is to secure victory in 2028—but that goal hinges on authentic togetherness.
“Dear delegate, the most important desire in the hearts of all our colleagues is a win in 2028. We have to put our best foot forward as we rebuild our party towards that election,” Dr Bawumia stated.
He cautioned against internal strife, noting that divisive rhetoric within the party only serves to weaken their chances and arm their opponents.
“To win 2028, we must not just talk unity; we must live it. The repeated attacks by our own party folk on one another are absolutely unhelpful. What we say against each other is what the NDC will use against us in 2028.”
He urged members to demonstrate their loyalty through actions rather than words, calling for an immediate end to factionalism and identity-based criticisms.
“If you claim you are a true patriot and want this party to win in 2028, then stop it. Don’t lecture us about how blue your blood is – let your actions show. Stop the internal attacks now. Stop the religious and tribal attacks now,” he concluded.
