TOR Adopts Four-Shift Model Under 24-Hour Economy Policy

The Managing Director of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), Edmond Kombat, has disclosed that the refinery is currently operating a four-shift system under the government’s 24-Hour Economy policy as part of efforts to ensure continuous operations and create employment opportunities.

According to him, TOR has adopted what he described as a “1-4-4” model, where a single job position is staffed by four different workers operating across four shifts to maintain round-the-clock productivity.

Mr. Kombat explained that the arrangement enables the refinery to sustain uninterrupted operations while expanding employment opportunities for Ghanaians through a structured shift system.

The TOR Managing Director noted that the model aligns with the objectives of the 24-Hour Economy initiative, which seeks to boost productivity, stimulate industrial growth and create jobs by encouraging continuous operations in key sectors of the economy.

Under the system, workers are assigned to four separate shifts to ensure that operations continue throughout the day and night without disruption.

The introduction of the model forms part of broader efforts by the refinery to improve operational efficiency, enhance output and contribute to national economic transformation through increased industrial activity.

The 24-Hour Economy policy is a flagship government initiative designed to maximize the use of existing infrastructure and productive capacity while creating more employment opportunities across strategic sectors.

Mr. Kombat indicated that TOR’s implementation of the four-shift arrangement demonstrates the refinery’s commitment to supporting the policy and positioning itself as a key player in Ghana’s industrial development agenda.

The refinery is expected to play a significant role in advancing the government’s vision of a more productive economy driven by continuous industrial operations and expanded job creation.
