The Bank of Ghana on Wednesday joined the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) to launch investorConnect, a new digital platform that will allow investors to open accounts, verify their identity using the Ghana Card, and view their securities and transaction history directly.
According to the two institutions, the platform marks a significant step towards giving investors real, direct access to their own records, removing the need for them to rely solely on intermediaries to tell them what they own.
Officials at the launch said confidence in a market starts with investors being able to see and trust their own holdings, and that this confidence, in turn, supports the development of a deeper capital market.
They noted that Ghana cannot finance long-term growth from short-term deposits and bank credit alone, stressing that a deeper, more transparent capital market gives businesses and government access to long-term capital, supporting savings, investment and sustainable growth.
The launch of investorConnect is expected to strengthen investor confidence and broaden participation in Ghana’s capital market as the country works to mobilise more long-term financing for development.
